Supplies:
- 1 box of cocoa rice cereal
- 1 package of fruit candy pieces
- 1 plastic tub
The children can create a base from the cereal. It covers the
bottom of the container and becomes pretend garden soil. Then they can “plant”
the candy pieces in rows just like a colorful garden. It is beautiful and makes
a fun scene using many senses. It also incorporates the early math concepts of
sorting along with the sensorial applications.
Supplies:
1 box of cocoa rice cereal
Bugles (tree base)
jelly fruit candy (tree tops)
teddy graham snacks
a variety of colorful candies
Have the children create a base from the cereal. It covers the bottom of the container and becomes the ground for the teddy bear forest. Take one Bugle and one gummy fruit candy and push the candy into the top peak of the Bugle to create the trees. Then push the base of the “trees” into the cereal to stand them up. Next the children can add the teddy bears. After the bears are placed, the decorations can be carefully designed throughout the forest to create a colorful and tasty sensory tub.
This sensory tub is a wonderful addition to a unit on picnics, teddy bears, forests, or other similar themes.
