Holidays are the perfect time for a new and inviting sensory experience. I have included two different ideas for setting up sensory tubs for Easter. These can be combined with the seasonal theme, lessons, and literacy as part of the full learning experience.
Edible Easter Sensory Tub Supplies:
✓ oat cereal with marshmallow shapes
✓ colorful cereal balls
✓ pastel marshmallows
✓ marshmallow twists
✓ party favor style paper baskets
✓ plastic eggs
✓ plastic shovel
The base is made from the oat cereal with marshmallow pieces. To add additional color, colored cereal balls were sprinkled on top. There are various types of fine motor skills which can be utilized as part of this tub. These include: using the shovel to scoop and fill baskets; opening, filling, and closing Easter eggs; hiding treasures in the base material; designing play scenes; and yummy tasting experiences.
Non-Edible Easter Tub Supplies:
✓ green colored rice (from chapter 2 in the book or you can use “Easter grass.
✓ small ester basket
✓ solid colorful eggs
✓ Easter foam pieces
✓ Easter themed erasers
✓ white pompoms (bunny tails)
Fill the tub with the colored rice and then add on all of the beautiful Easter pieces for a fun seasonal sensory tub. Let the children determine the different ways that the materials can be used with their own creativity.
