Stringing Beads for a Necklace

Materials Needed

  • Cording
  • Beads
  • Tape (Optional)
  • Scissors (Optional)
  • Tray

Presentation and Activity:

Create a knot in the cord on one side. The knot should be large enough to hold the beads on the string while stringing them. If desired, the cord can be taped to the tray to secure it instead of a utilizing a large knot. Next, select a bead, and run the cord through the hole. Push the bead down to the base of the string. Continue to string beads until the necklace is complete. Once the necklace is compete tie the ends of the string together.

Depending on the age and ability of the child, the cording can be pre-cut to size or the cording can be included and the child can cut the string to the appropriate size.
