Today I want to share two sensory tubs that are winter and Christmas themed. These are fun and easy sensory tubs to create. The first one uses only a few simple items and the second can be personalized and filled with whatever items you have that create your theme.
Cinnamon Pine Cone Sensory Tub
Supplies:
- dry oatmeal
- gold glitter
- pine cones (decorated with paint and glitter)
- ground cinnamon
Pour the dry oatmeal into the tub and mix in the cinnamon. Next, sprinkle the glitter over the base and add the beautiful pine cones. If you would like to extend the process, the children can participate in decorating the pine cones before they are put into the sensory tub.
This sensory tub is a perfect entry into the Christmas season with the natural colors and beauty of the materials along with the wonderful scent of cinnamon.
Busy Christmas Tub
Supplies:
- multi-color base fill
- Christmas boxes
- tiny bows
- Christmas themed erasers, trinkets, or table scatter
The base fill was created by combining a number of different materials which had been colored (instructions in chapter 2). The base includes a red, green, and blue color theme, the materials encompass rice, chickpeas, black eyed peas, and Lima beans. The other materials are placed on the colorful base, and provide opportunities for creating and decorating gifts.
A mixed base is a great way to use leftover base materials from other projects. As you use the base materials in sensory tubs, you will find that some of it disappears over time. When children play, some may fall out of the tub, some is lost due to spills and material winds up on the floor or otherwise is lost from your supply. Don’t throw out partial sets of base materials, just combine the leftovers to create a base filled with a variety of colors and textures.
